Doesn’t it sometimes seem like we're all more anxious than we used to be?
I don’t know why that is. Social Media? Mean-spirited politics? Everything on TV, from gun violence to racial unrest?
According to the Journal of Psychiatric Research, between 2008 to 2018, anxiety among adults 18 to 25 nearly doubled. In 2019, the CDC reported that 15% of adults showed signs of anxiety disorder. By July of 2020, 36% of adults experienced anxiety disorder, and by February of 2021, anxiety affected 41.5% of adults.
Anxiety clearly isn’t just something “out there.” We are anxious.
