Caring For Our Elders

CALVARY CELEBRATES HOLY COMMUNION IN THE COMMUNITY
Calvary celebrates Holy Communion at Windmill Ponds (11 am on the third Monday of each month), Bethany Community/Bethel Manor (10:30 am on the third Tuesday of each month), and Grand Arbor (2 pm on the third Tuesday of each month). Each service is 30 minutes.

RADIO BROADCAST
Calvary airs the 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m. on FM 99.3. If you would like a weekly bulletin mailed to you, please contact the church office.

WELLNESS / AWARENESS EVENTS
At various times throughout the year, we offer events focused on wellness topics or awareness for issues relating to elders. Watch the weekly bulletin and for more details on upcoming activities.

MEDICAL LENDING CLOSET
Did you know that we have a few medical equipment items people can borrow if needed? Due to the generosity of Calvary members, we have wheelchairs, standard walkers, rolling/seated walkers, crutches and a shower seat. The items can be borrowed as needed. If you would like to borrow one of these items, please call the church office.

SENIOR COFFEE WITH THE STAFF
Is the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00am. All Senior citizens are invited to have coffee or tea and snacks with the Calvary Staff. So come join the fun in the Svea Lounge!  No need to RSVP – just show up.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS
Blood Pressure checks will be provided on the Second Sunday of the month, between worship services. We will be set up in the library (watch for signs). We have a devoted crew of medical professionals volunteering to help. So stop by if you want your blood pressure checked.

YOUR CHURCH FAMILY CARES ABOUT YOU
If you or a Calvary loved one is admitted to the hospital, please share this information with one of the pastors or the church office. For your safety, the hospital does not release patient information without your request.

ESTATE PLANNING
Have you considered remembering Calvary in your will? A legacy gift is a meaningful way to continue the mission of Calvary long after you have passed. With the advice of your attorney or tax adviser, the following language may be added to your will, trust or codicil: “I bequeath x% of my estate to Calvary Lutheran Church, 605 Douglas Street, Alexandria, Minnesota 56308.”

FRIENDLY VISITORS
Friendly visitors visit with Calvary members who are homebound and can’t make it to worship or other activities here at Calvary. They help keep that homebound member connected with our community, some share Holy Communion and great friendships form. Please contact the church office if you are interested in being a Friendly Visitor or if you would like to be matched up with a Friendly Visitor for yourself or for a loved one who is homebound.

PRAYER LIST / PRAYER CHAIN
Prayer is one of the best ways we care for each other as Christians. If you or a loved one would like to be included in our prayer list (printed in the weekly bulletin) or on the prayer chain (email / phone call list of people praying for specific requests), please call the church office.
